I met with both my pulmonologist and a new Naturopathic Oncologist yesterday. All went well. My first appointment was with my pulmonologist and it went extremely quickly because all my vitals and my symptoms warranted no further investigation. I am not experiencing any pain, discomfort, or side-effects. My blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, weight, and everything looked great. The only thing was the slightly reduced breath sounds in my lower left lung. My breathing is great and improving, but my left lung is certainly not back to 100% yet and that is to be expected according to the doctor. This healing will take time. When I take a very full, deep breath there is some mild stretching on the left side which is good and over time should improve.
Later, I had my first visit with a Naturopathic Oncologist. I was very impressed with her. We are philosophically and strategically aligned on the approach to my cancer treatment. We spent a lot of time reviewing my history, diet, lifestyle, supplements, medications, and more. She told me that I'm already doing most of what she would have recommended and she loved my diet progress.

She had some minor recommendations for adjustments to my supplement regimen, including increasing the amount of melatonin I'm taking, adding green tea extract, and she wrote me a prescription for Metformin. We discussed the research literature on each of these and why they are important additions to the anti-cancer arsenal. Metformin has some solid science behind it, especially in conjunction with a ketogenic diet and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (like Osimertinib which I'm taking).
I will also be doing some additional labs with her to determine if there are any other underlying contributors such as imbalances, deficiencies, etc. Overall, she was quite impressed with my progress so far. She complimented me on my diet, supplements, and lifestyle. It was nice to have validation on what I'm doing so far.
I have my next CT scan and MRI in a few weeks. This should give some indication of how things are looking and progressing. I believe I’ve done all I can to fight back against the cancer so we will just have to see whether the scans will show evidence of it this early in the process. I’m feeling good. It is still early in the long marathon.
